As you might expect, a bodycare range from the people who brought you Hotel Chocolat puts the not-so-humble cocoa bean - or Theobroma cacao - at its heart.

Large and oval-shaped, the cocoa pod is home to around 40 cocoa seeds which get harvested, dried and roasted. Cocoa butter is what we extract from the seeds and use in our products.



The Rabot 1745 collection is proudly based on harnessing Nature’s powerful botanical ingredients. Think of them as the building blocks of the range with their naturally active properties. We use not only the incredibly moisturising cocoa seed butter (packed full of vitamins and fatty acids) but the shells too for their exfoliating properties. With high levels of antioxidants, cocoa butter helps protect the skin from damaging free radicals and repair the skin from premature ageing.

Its anti-inflammatory properties help soothe and calm whilst oleic, palmitic, and stearic acids nourish. Cocoa butter has also been shown to help stimulate the circulation. We think it’s one of the most potent skin saviours and it’s an essential part of each of our Rabot 1745 products.

Dry skin loves it because… it helps restore the lipid layer to keep moisture in the skin.

The Rabot 1745 range was inspired by the cocoa plantation in St Lucia - the Rabot Estate - where Hotel Chocolat was born. With products ranging from exfoliating body scrubs and intensively moisturising body butters to delicious lip balms and our first house fragrance, cocoa is the tropical thread that runs through our collection.
